The SDMC polyclinic came into existence in 2006, even as the project was being negotiated with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi as one of the public partners.

The polyclinic was staffed with 5 SDMC doctors but the facilities were very basic.

Improving health services was one of the top priority areas as indicated by the Quality of Life survey of 2008.

The study revealed that the patient load in the polyclinic was low as the services were limited; the referrals were particularly low limited by the cost of getting the relevant pathological test done. The surroundings of the polyclinic were poor with a broken and dirty road leading to it which limited the access to the clinic and also contributed to its poor perception and low patient load.

Outreach services in the community were practically non existent
