Nizamuddin with its 700 years of architectural and cultural heritage is one of the oldest settlements of Delhi. The project developed open spaces like the parks along the northern edge of the Basti, which are now frequently used for annual fairs like Apni Basti Mela, Children’s Fair, Women’s Mela, book-fairs etc., and the area of Chausath Khamba, Urs Mahal, and Ghalib’s Tomb have been sensitively landscaped to become a performance venue for cultural events for poets of Nizamuddin like Khusrau, Rahim, Ghalib etc. With a backdrop of Mughal era monuments, these events attract a lot of first-time visitors to the Basti. The urban interventions carried out here, effectively utilizes the strengths of the setting while being sensitive to the area.
