A high dropout rate at school level was identified as a key issue in the Sachhar Committee Report. It has also been seen that children tend to drop out of school if they are unable to cope with school subjects. This becomes even more difficult when the children are first generation learners as they tend to be in Nizamuddin.
There are three subject areas that tend to be the ones that children find ‘difficult’ to pass the exams; failure of these exams is one of the reasons that leads to children dropping out of school. These subjects are English, Mathematics and Science.
